My perception of a good trials rider is an individual that has overcome greater fears than I am presently capable of. The fear factor, cut-off point which ever you like to call it has us all by the short and curlies lets face it, if your intimidated by an obstacle be it a bank, log or what ever, you ain't goner make it. To try and overcome some of these fears you could try slapping yourself a couple of times before the trial commences, or perhaps team up with someone you know and kick ten barrels out of each other, please make sure the person you team up with is willing a participant in this activity.
The start of our new season has now commenced, will there be a change of fortunes for the top leading club riders. If you want to beat your nearest competitor watch them ride incorporate their better riding abilities into your own riding style and concentrate on your key areas of riding that let you down, a minimal improvement could be enough for you to lift the top honours for the new seasons championship.
Ash 6/10/02
Ash has always been better suited to the Novice class rider. However, I had a ride on the red route this weekend and found lots of tight turns that had me footing down a couple of times. Section ten, red route in my opinion was more difficult than the blue route, a big surprise and also a good indication that the routes had not grown to far apart. The Expert route which will be ridden by the Intermediates and amended for 2003 season with white cards will enable novices to move to blue route without a to bigger class jump bigger class.
The youth club championship this year will be a very closely fought contest, the various classes of rider that I have seen riding are of exceptional talent, riders that improve will get the fullest support from motorbiketrials.com and will be featured on this website.
Burwash 25/8/02
The trial at Burwash had some very good sections and one brilliant expert section ten, judging by the faces of the riders that had just ridden this section I can safely say the section was a blinder. The section commenced with a tight and tricky uphill drive that pulled you around to the right and off line, half looping around the top of the bank and using as much run off area as possible you descended hard on the brakes for a controlled pants staining downhill drop between two trees. At the bottom you are faced with a muddy bog two feet in deep and about six foot long, a quick throttle blast in third will clear this and a fallen tree. "If you have made it this far, it was at this point your pants really started to fill with the brown stuff" So, loop around the back of a tree keeping the wheels moving grit your teeth and go for it, full chat in third gear and pray. My best score on this section was for a single one-adrenalin mark lost.
