Saturday 16th August and im on my way down to Burwash, tent thrown in the back and a few beers and Bacardi breezers for good measure as it was my birthday the following day.It takes me approx just over the hour to get down to east sussex from essex but with the good weather that weekend the A21 was chocker with every man dog and bloody caravan trying to get down to Hastings. As luck has it I know a wicked route to Burwash from Lamberhurst which cuts out the A21 and sticks you on roads with no cameras and no old bill,so its flat out all the way hanging on for dear life when hitting the bends at 70 and especially the hump back bridges which if you don’t know the roads are hidden and more then one occasion have had the golf flying Richard Burns styley all four wheels off the ground,,YYEE HAA as I shoot past the local country folk out for a stroll, you should see there faces, its not my fault my golfs set up like a go-kart and I tend to get carried away,,,,Sorry!!!!
Ed knows what im talking about don’t you ed those little hump backs can really catch you out especially when you have a bike rack on the back, but it does look damn funny in the rear view mirror!
After getting down to the ground and having a quick cup of char me and gazza headed off to lay some sects out that’s whites and blues and the others lay out the reds and yellows and we try our hardest to lay out some interesting sections because you never know whos gonna turn up the next day and it is Bexleyheath policy not to replicate a section from past events as this is one thing that really pisses me off when riding trials.Section two we managed to find new ground and on the day caught out a few riders,we had lee Brocklehurst turn up after our gay leader Cliff who by the way couldn’t be bothered to turn up had hassled and storked Lee into coming and also Nicky Dowland turned up for some white route bashing both riders having probs I think through lack of concentration or the section was just to damn easy for them, just to let you know that section will be in the combine but five times harder I know your limits and im pushing you all the way to the edge!!!ha ha…
Section three we made quite tricky along the stream with some logs thrown in for good measure then up the steep bank opposite,on the day wasn’t really that hard but lee had other ideas as to spice it up a bit which have all been marked down in my diary and will be in the trial in a few weeks.Theres still a lot of work to be done down at burwash with banks and streams to be opened up,so it looks like im gonna be busy over the next few weeks with my trusty chainsaw and clippers,it would be criminal not to open this land right up the potential is outstanding for whites and blues…
All the other sections were fairly tricky with section eight being the one I most enjoyed, didn’t look much but gave much enjoyment blasting up and down the banks and also the reds were pushed into riding up the banks which were a little tight for them,Jamie Webster was looking at section eight when I see him and he said he thought it was a bit hairy coming off the top bank and straight back down turning before you hit a large log laying on the ground, but as I said to him it was nothing like what he had done down at the schoolboy championships at Cowden.I heard of no fatality’s so I assume Jamie got round all four laps ok.
Gary hurt his hand on something but didn’t know what and it had swelled well up before the first lap and was struggerling to control the mont but still managed to complete most of the sections,Ed who hasn’t rode for some time due to being im told a bit of a women chaser or tries to be was riding quite well and if he gets back in the saddle he can start kicking Cliffs arse again which would give us all much enjoyment.
So you have all been warned the combine which is on the 14th sept 03 is gonna be the mutts nutts so make sure to get down to Burwash on that date otherwise you have missed one of the centres best trials and best bits of land in the south. We are aiming for 20 sections mostly streams with five new sections being added around the car park area,so that also means we need all our swarv-sophisticated-goodlooking members from the Bexleyheath to marshal to cover all the sections laid out.
And cliff if you think your none of the above and damn right your not,,,YOU’VE STILL GOT TO MARSHAL!!thanks mate…

also thanks goes to rodg the dodge-dennis-lou-dick and the other blokes that turn up to lay out the pussey sections cheers!!

So we will see you all at burwash on the 14th until then..........chow
