The usual crew was out this weekend at Burwash east Sussex
on the Saturday 15th May with the rare visit from Mr Ed himself
as well.
We don't get much chance to lay out our white and blue
route in the bone dry, its normally overcast and pissing down
non-stop making the going very slippery! But this weekend was
a scorcher so the usual laid back sections had to be toughened
up an itsy bit, well when I say toughened I didn't mean lets
try killing ourselves, that wasn't meant to be in the script.
Ed was our crash test dummy on the Saturday and by about
section 9 had him wishing he hadn't turned up, got him self
stuck in this quicksand, this was after going over the handlebars
and sinking to his elbows. Then started to sink to his knees
much to the amusement of Gary & me. We laughed so much it was
hurting and after about 10 minutes we couldn't breath and this
is whilst Ed is struggerling to set himself free. After much
piss taking and Eds screams falling on death ears we decided
it would be best if we pulled him out other wise he would have
scared the wildlife if we had left him there overnight.
The others (that's normally 20 or more) were busy laying
out the reds & yellows as there was also a few wobblers turning
up the next day plus the kiddies on their midget bikes. bless
there little cotton socks.
Sunday we got there late due to me oversleeping (sorry
Gaz&Mal) so it was a mad rush to Gary's to pick the bikes up
and then warp speed all the way through all the back lanes of
Kent & Sussex.
Lb had just managed to haul his arse out of bed after his
Dad had repaired his Scorpa and wanted to give it a test run
with a new clutch fitted and a rewelded foot-peg. Our onsite
entertainment didn't turn up, Ed had drunk too much the night
before(couple of shandys)and wasn't up for some more taking
of the piss. Spoilsport!
I would be the first to admit I think we laid the sections
out a bit tough and had me & Gary struggerling like mad on a
couple, sections 9 & 10. The best we could do was a 1 on the
first lap then followed by mainly 2`s & 3`s. Managed to completely
mangle my front wheel on section 10 by hitting a stump halfway
up one of the banks, see pic.

Nothing a big sledgehammer won't sort out.
Hopefully Cliff didn't beat me this weekend otherwise I
will never live it down. I did hear him say he lost his bottle
on 10 on the down hill into the stream so that's 20 to add on,
but don't know how well he rode on the others. Roy was still
going strong but did manage to bend his gear lever on a rock
that jumped out in front of him. My cousin Keith who has just
decided to get back into trials after a 20 year break was out
riding on his newly purchased beamish Suzuki and by the looks
on his face was having a good time of trying to stay on it.
Marathon running has got too be easier hasn't it Keith.
I think everyone had a good day and theirs not much going
to go wrong with such a great piece of land such as Burwash,
we just have to spread the word so more riders can enjoy what
we know is now probably the best piece of land in the south-east
and theirs still plenty more sections to cut out, so club members
get yer arses down there, we need the help we cant do this by
ourselves!
Next main event is the team trial, which is next month
and Cliffs in charge of sorting the winning teams, or maybe
20 Bexleyheath marshals would be easier, if you know what I
mean:-).
Thanks to everyone that helped out on the Saturday & Sunday
to make this event happen.
See you Ymsa nutters this bank Holiday up in Derbyshire
31st May
Cheers Fleety
