Round 8 had 40 odd riders attend on a nice hot sweaty stinky
day.
Had rained the night before but the ground was so dry it
made no difference to the sections what so ever. 10 sections
mostly in the stream parts of the land to start with, nice easy
one to start with then gradually getting harder the further
you progressed through the woods.
We went a bit mad last time so we was told by the inferior
riders who lost bundles, but! So did we, me and Gary had a great
time of falling off! So this time round I made sure I remembered
to pack my sane brain and not the one I normally use at such
places as Canada Heights.
Talking about loosing the plot, someone laid out the longest
section ever for the reds at no5, which started, halfway up
the stream and ended somewhere in Tim buck 2, if you didn't
have GPS satellite navigation you was well and truly knackered!
And that was on top of having to walk the marathon to find the
ends cards, riders were attaching string to their belts and
attaching it to the starts gate then ringing home to let friends
and family know their whereabouts just in case they were never
found again (what was that all about?)
After talking to a few of the riders they did enjoy the
trial and found the sections challenging but! Not to hard. I
enjoyed the day, but ended up doing an Ely impression on one
section getting frustrated at loosing stupid marks all day.
I did scream a few choice words at myself and then kicking the
crap out of my bike; sorry I thought I was riding a gas gas.
Thanks to all the usual crew who did turn up both days,
most decent of you chaps.
