Flags I hate the bloody things why do clubs use them,
you can't see them clearly because there not at head height and the
ones used today were hidden behind trees and brush making them hard
to detect and making me go the wrong way 3 times, and I wasn't the
only one. After talking to a few riders they all made the same mistake
I made, going the wrong way in the sections due to these stupid markers,
why can`t some clubs use normal cards like every one else, after you
have done one lap of cockups you then know the correct route so the
marks start coming down, first lap I lost around 18 then the second
lap I was down to 2 then 1 and last but not least zero'I think',,,
O yeah almost forgot Eastbourne need pruning training!!!
Section one was quite tricky for the blues and harder
than the white route which seemed to reoccur on most sections, very
tricky right turn over a fairly large log where the whites had a straight
run then up round a tree then across a camber and out up a steep bank,
didn't cause me any probs but did cause plenty of cock-ups from my
fellow blue route compardries. Most of the next few sections were
as similar until reaching sections 6 to 11, these were a bit more
testing and since I hadn't engaged my brain by then it was refreshing
to start thinking about how to ride the section as I rode through
the start gates pushing me that little bit harder! NOT! O yeah I hear
yer 'why don't you ride the bloody whites then!' na I like taking
the mick to much to do that and anyway they are only laid out for
riders that can hop and pirouette up there own backside and I cant
do none of that. Section 9 was about the best one there it kept me
awake with some nice little roots and carefully placed crappy flags
it made a great section and took a few marks from a few riders. 10
was more tricky and quite a suicidal section if you got it totally
wrong at the top which I did witness one rider landing very hard at
the bottom bike on top and had to be rushed to hospital after knocking
himself out on the log, hope you are ok mate whoever you was. I didn't
like this section myself that much and was never to sure which way
to ride down the steep camber but every lap just managed to stop before
hitting the tree halfway down, was quite a ride and required a change
of knickers, opps I mean pants every lap.
Young Jamie on his Clipic went and looped his bike
on section 8 but that didn't put him off and was ridding well on section
9 when I see him, his dad tells me that Jamie's getting a brand new
gas gas 125 soon so he should really progress. Also young Mathew Hogg
seemed to be having another one of his good rides along with his dad
who won the novice class at last weeks Harvest trial beating Roy the
purve by 5 marks, not bad for someone who has to walk/run the sections
twice minding for Mathew, you must be super fit by now mate. At your
age as well puts us all to shame!!
Gazza has been off the boil the last few trials and
wasn't having a good day especially when I was poking the camera in
his face on certain sections trying to put him off with the flash,
also Andy Ely was dropping a few stupid marks here and there but always
seems to end up first in the results, most annoying!!, im gonna unglue
them boots from your foot-pegs you cheating arab! After all my bitching
I did enjoy the event and so did all the other riders 'I just don't
like flags' and after loosing 15 marks to invisible flags I wasn't
to amused,, 'did I mention I don't like flags'.
Thanks to all the Marshals and event organisers great
day will be back next year where I will burn them flags with my flame-thrower,
till then Chow
Ps: Thanks to the Wickham for last weeks Harvest trial
the best trial I have ridden in ages, apart from the iow of course,
thanks to all the marshals and to the clerk of the course and his
elf's for a wic-ked event, see you there next year.
