A small few from the club decided to ride the Old Gits Trial down at Hook woods,Gary-Lou -Dick-Cliff-me old man and myself all rode in the different classes competing in different age groups. Dick-Lou the old man were in the old relics class and Cliff and Gary I think they called it the Middle age group where as I was competing in the young spring chickens class being of a young nature.

I did notice DP in the car park but without gassa he must have thought the age group didn't go that high and couldn't get a ride the old git.He was going on about a win last week over me in the Eastbournes trial where he beat me on the furvest clean well jammy, not that I was taking much notice Of what he was saying,it sort of went though one ear and out the other. You have to let them win every now and then otherwise there brains go off the boil,Dave loves his care in the community workers and likes to keep active so when you see him lagging just tell one of the doctors and they will give him his insulin boost….

Hook woods does seem to attract a good entry no matter what time of year it is or whos laying it out Riders seem to love the ground. When you look at the ground theres not really a great deal there in the Way of serious sections but having 20 tons of rocks emptied into it does make a big difference. It was four laps of ten with a break after two laps so that gave me a chance to shoot round and get a few photos and after sweating 50pints off I was glad of a drink.I found most of the sections a little easy but still lost a few stupid marks I think I lost 7/7/1/5 total of twenty.Should have been clean,I wasn't amused. Dropping a five on the second lap didn't help on a real easy section and having trouble with section six on the last lap and losing a two made me flip,a few choice words came from my lips much to the amusement of the marshal and spectators.I did apologise for my bad French,I don't normally flip it must be the heat!

Dick and Lou both I think enjoyed themselves on the yellow route and so did dad on the reds,Gazza had a mare on one lap where a marshal gave him a five for going the wrong way,but Garry denies it!he said he went the right way,but what can you do at the end of the day you cant over rule the marshal. But you can go back and beat the living Crap out of them,,,,Only Joking..Cliff was seen trying to ride a scorpa in the correct manner though a section but it was only a rumour.I did see him on section ten which by the way which was the best section layed out all day, coming up over a steep tree root then over a concrete ramp gave the most excitement all day to our small posse of riders and Cliff was seen messing it up big style.Monte looked like he was going to ride the blues at one point up the ramp but see me at the last minute poised with camera and flash-light in hand and bottled it,would have made a nice pic…

Thanks to all the marshals and also the Thames Club for another great trial down at Hook Woods
