The BEST
Bexleyheath team entered for the Nktc Team Trial 2003 is:Rob Fleet
,Gary Roberts & Gary Stephen.
Just got back from the Nktc endurance team trial
at Horsmonden, endurance was an understatement having had to ride
14 sections flat out on the throttle stop and dipping the clutch
every now and then just to give the piston a break which all turned
out by the last lap bloody cramp setting into the wrists and unable
to operate the clutch properly anyway.
You could say it was quite a hard day due to
the bad weather over the past few days and the wet conditions
pushed all riders to there limits both in skill and fitness but
most managed to make it to the finishing post..'JUST' with just
a handful of riders retiring early muttering to themselves 'sod
this im off down the pub!!! Having rode the first lap like I was
pissed and fallen off more times then a rodeo rider, no sorry
let me rephrase that `like Cliff on a good day` I was thinking
the pub was a damn fine idea, but since this was a team effort
I didn't want to let the two Gazza`s down so doing a bit of fine
tuning in the tyre pressure department I attempted another gruelling
lap.
Sections one to five were set out just right
for the conditions and I managed to raise a smile when cleaning
my first section and that was section one after having rode from
section 6 to 14 first and 3in virtually every section. I did see
section four being tackled by Jamie Burroughs who wasn't having
to good a time with the log at the bottom and was exchanging a
few choice words with his minder (his old man) having stalled
the Beta on the tight turn, another 'one of them pirouette up
your backside turns' but this was in thick mud and no grip what
so ever. The drop in for the blues was quite hairy having to slide
down the steep bank and head butting the tree on the way through
whilst soiling your pants then turning right across a camber,
this caught me out on lap two and three which was most annoying
having cleaned that part of the section on the first lap when
it was the most slippery.
Six was ni on impossible with a tight turn left
up the bank from no run up was causing all sorts of problems but
my eagle eyes found a route around the back of some trees which
didn't really help anyway since you had to foot most of the section
just to get out the ends cards. I don't think I see one single
rider loose less then a three on all four routes. Ron Stevens
section was another one that could have done with easing since
I don't see much point in revving the nuts off the bike just to
receive a three at the end of the ends cards, after dropping down
the bank and unwrapping yourself from the two trees at the bottom
you had to foot to drag your bike which by now was covered in
two tons of mud back up the bank to the left and across a tricky
little camber which had plenty of grip if you had managed to get
that far. Normally I see a few riders who do have a good ride
in the wet but for the first time I was stumped!!! I didn't see
anyone having a good ride mostly people falling on there arses
is what I saw and physically abusing there bikes in frustration.
Personally I thought it was a bloody good event and loved almost
every minute, my yam engine now has a lovely little ring to it
after its no mercy slaughtering, if you tap along it sounds like
a really bad instrumental on a Bee Gees track or Cliffs brain
cell engaging drive:):)
Thanks to all the organisers who made this event
happen good job done in impossible conditions. See all our club
members at the next club trial on Sunday 21st at Wainscot where
I will be riding with a very large hangover
Just seen the results, you`ve got to have a little chuckle. Cliffs
team came second to last ha ha..after the slating we got last time
at the team trial earlier in the year we now say to Cliff,, no one
can ever get a result like that only you, i can only apologise to
his other two team members for his poor performance and letting
them down big time!!!!! lets say we had the last laugh....
